Ingredients
- 1 cup coarsely ground coffee
- 4 cups cold filtered water
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 8-10 fresh sage leaves
- 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
- Ice cubes for serving
- Milk or cream (optional)
Instructions
- Combine ground coffee with 4 cups cold water in a large jar. Stir gently to ensure all grounds are wet.
- Cover and refrigerate for 12 hours or overnight.
- Meanwhile, make the blackberry-sage syrup: Combine blackberries, 1 cup water, sugar, and sage leaves in a saucepan.
- Scrape vanilla bean seeds into the mixture and add the pod.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing gently. Let cool completely.
- Strain cold brew through a coffee filter or fine-mesh sieve.
- For each serving, combine 1/2 cup cold brew concentrate with 1/2 cup water and 2-3 tablespoons blackberry-sage syrup.
- Serve over ice, adding milk if desired.
