Flash-Brewed Chemex With Vanilla Bean

Equipment
- Chemex brewer
- Chemex filters
- Burr grinder
- Digital scale
- Gooseneck kettle
- Sharp knife
Ingredients
- 40g medium-light roast coffee beans
- 1 vanilla bean pod
- 600g hot water (205°F)
- 300g ice cubes
- Additional ice for serving
Instructions
- Split vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out seeds. Add seeds to your ground coffee
- Place 300g ice in the bottom of your Chemex
- Grind coffee to medium-coarse consistency
- Place filter in Chemex and rinse with hot water
- Add ground coffee and vanilla bean seeds to filter
- Pour 100g hot water to bloom coffee for 30 seconds
- Continue pouring hot water in circular motion until you reach 600g total
- Remove filter once brewing is complete
- Serve immediately over fresh ice
