Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons medium-dark roast coffee beans, coarsely ground
- 2 cups hot water (200°F/93°C)
- 2 squares dark chocolate (70% cocoa), finely grated
- 2 strips orange peel
- 2 whole star anise pods
- Optional: 2 tablespoons warm milk for serving
Instructions
- Place the star anise pods in your French press
- Add the coarsely ground coffee
- Heat water to 200°F (93°C)
- Pour a small amount of hot water over the grounds and star anise to bloom for 30 seconds
- Add the remaining water and stir gently
- Place the plunger on top but don't press down. Let steep for 4 minutes
- Slowly press the plunger down
- Divide the coffee between two warmed mugs
